A boat that comes to you. Six of the trips here board on the mainland — at Sorrento's Marina Piccola, at Marina di Cassano in Piano di Sorrento, at Marina di Stabia or at Positano beach — and make the crossing part of the day rather than a ticket you queue for. Sorrento to Capri is 20 to 40 minutes by scheduled boat, and a private launch is not much slower.
Five of the six are priced per boat. All six are full days, seven to eight hours, with the crossing inside that figure.
The scheduled crossing from Sorrento costs €26 to €28 return and it sells out in July and August. Boarding a charter removes the ticket, the queue and the pressure of the last boat home in one move.
Bagni Regina Giovanna, Marina di Puolo, the paths of Massa Lubrense: the run out to the crossing is itself a stretch of coastline nobody sees from the ferry, and the Faraglioni come up ahead of you on the way in.

The catch is the supplements, and it is worth reading. Four of these six charge a docking or fuel fee in cash if you board somewhere other than their home port — on one, €200 extra fuel plus €100 docking at Capri, or €200 plus €75 at Positano. Another charges €300 at Amalfi and €500 at Capri or Sorrento. None of it is hidden; none of it is in the headline price.
Confirm the marina, not the town. Sorrento's own Marina Piccola and Marina di Cassano in Piano di Sorrento are different places several kilometres apart, and Marina di Stabia is further still. The address on your confirmation is the one that matters.
Ask what the total is. Fuel, docking and government fees are cash on the day on four of these.

Know where you land. Some of these tie up at Marina Grande and some at Marina Piccola on the far side of the island — the map page shows why that matters for the hours ashore.
Anyone already staying on Capri. You would be paying for a crossing you do not need; the boats that start at Marina Grande cost less and give you more of the island.
Two travellers. Five of these six are per-boat fares built round six or eight people, and a party of two is buying empty seats. Take the ferry over and a shared boat from there.
